My search for the ultimate device

During the 2007 Christmas season, I was intrigued by the new 30gb Zune's being sold for $99. Video, music & 30gb for $99! Awesome! However, I'm not one for listening to music on the go. I have a nice collection of over 10,000 mp3's, but I get bored with listening to my same music everywhere I go. When I'm outdoors, I like listening to the outdoors. I have no need to mute it listening music. I'll do that when I'm at home. However, I do like to sometimes listen to music in the car because the radio stations in my area suck (in my opinion).

As far as the Zune's ability to play video, that's cool. Except there is still no extremely convenient way for getting the content, either from the net or ripping and converting. By the time I do all that I could have watched the video already.

So I continued researching devices and came across the Nokia N800 Internet Tablet. WOW! Exactly what I was looking for! A mini internet tablet with multimedia capabilites. Thats more like it.

I chose the N800 over the N810 because of the ability to have 16GB of flash RAM in 2 slots. The N810 only supports 8GB due to its one flash RAM slot capacity. (the slideout keyboard and GPS functionality in the N810 were not an incentive for me)

This is a Linux based OS. I have no experience with Linux, but so far love it's non-bloatware attitude. Also love the amount of free software via Nokia's Maemo open-source initiative. Makes me wanna learn how to program for this puppy.
